Dream Journal - Those scheming Politicos and the invasion of the Forest of Dean

Two dreams last night.

Number one was about the political future of the United Kingdom... I think? I was having a cup of tea in my flat and then Gordon Brown, Ed Balls and George Osborne all popped round for a chat. It seem there had been some important development in student politics at the University of Kent and they wanted to know who the next Lib Dem Prime Minister was going to be... I hadn't a clue so they all went home.

Thankfully that was the end of that one.

Then I had to lead the resistance against the Invasion of the Forest of Dean by the vile, evil and general repellent forces of the Axis. That seemed to go well but it was a good thing the Welsh paratroopers turned up as my halftrack thingie had developed a flat tire (or something...?)

Fortunately I am awake now... Or am I? is this dream number three?

A dream tribute to John Christopher's Tripod Trilogy

Last nights dream was intriguing and just a bit scary.

I was in a distopian version of our world similar to the stories of John Christopher's Tripods world.

Our society had been taken over my 'the masters' an alien race that used mind control to subdue the human race. In the dream I was living in a town not unlike Stroud and my 'master' came to visit her human 'pet.'

the aliens in this stage of the dream took on human form. The master that visited me was concerned for my welfare. There was an absence of mind control evident in the dream. Our town had not been 'capped'

The community rose up against their alien overlords and my 'owner' was killed. The tripods attacked and the town was destroyed and the few survivors hid in tunnels under the wooded hills surrounding the town.

The next stage of the dream was after I had been 'capped.' For those not acquainted with the universe of the Tripod Trilogy the cap was a device the masters placed on the head of their human subjects for the purpose of controlling their thoughts and behaviours. This bit of the dream was weird.

I was in the city of gold and lead. I was prisoner of war. The cap was not fully functional and I could think rebellious thoughts of my own. The scary bit was an interview with a master who was trying to explain why his civilisation was superior. And how easily he would wipe me out...

Then the dream changed and I was a character from my science ficition novel with powers to control reality. I deactivated the physical underpinning for the masters mind control technology and destroyed their cities.

The dream ended at that point.
